Windows 8 是一款微软公司于2012年10月26日发布的面向平板和触屏电脑的操作系统。它的UI被重新设计，引入了Metro（Modern UI）。基于Modern UI的开始屏幕被加入，同时删除了开始按钮，因此受到了很多差评，它还在文件资源管理器加入了Ribbon UI。

2014年，中国政府采购网发布《关于进行信息类协议供货强制节能产品补充招标的通知》要求所有计算机设备不允许预装Windows 8。（Windows 3.1:你说啥？)

版本

Windows 8 发布了如下版本：

  • Windows 8 (也被称为 Core，核心版)，是适用于家庭用户的基本版本。
    • Windows RT 是 Windows 8 的基于 ARM32 平板版本. 比较于其他版本，它只能运行 Microsoft Store 里面被微软签名的应用。它的功能和前面所提到的核心版类似。
    • Windows 8 单语言版 和核心版一样，但是不能更改语言。
    • Windows 8 中国版 (也被叫做 Core Country Specific) 和单语言版本一样，但只运行简体中文语言包，组策略功能被删除。这是一种投标于中国大陆市场的特殊版本。
  • Windows 8 专业版 投标于发烧友和商业市场。和核心版比较，它加入了运行 Hyper-V 虚拟机的功能， 接受 RDP 的连接和 BitLocker 支持。
    • Windows 8 带有 Media Center 的专业版 是专业版的变种，它包含额外的 Windows Media Center，有时在系统内标注为 Windows 8 Pro Pack。
  • Windows 8 企业版 是用于大组织/企业的版本，只能被 KMS 或者 MAK 密钥激活。它和专业版功能一样，但是支持创建 Windows To Go 便携工作区。

新功能与特色

Modern UI

这是 Windows 8 为平板设备专门设计的界面。用户不仅可以通过使用微软帐户在 Windows 中登录，体验微软提供的在线服务，且触摸手势功能全面增强：从屏幕左端向内滑动可切换应用，从屏幕右端向内滑动可打开 Charm 栏。Modern UI 在 Windows 8 随处可见，并使用全新的扁平化风格设计，主要变化如下：

  • 具备 Modern UI 的开始屏幕取代开始菜单，开始按钮从任务栏上被移除。
  • 新增 Charm 栏，包含五大按钮（搜索、共享、开始、设备、设置），对应相应的功能。但因此计算机的睡眠、关机和重启操作被移到了 Charm 栏中，导致许多刚刚使用 Windows 8 的用户不知道如何进行这些操作。
  • 将鼠标移动到屏幕边角能触发以下功能：
  1. 移至左下角并点按可打开开始屏幕。
  2. 移至左上角并向下移动可切换 Modern UI 的应用。
  3. 移至右上角或右下角并向右侧中间移动可以打开 Charm 栏。
  • 个性化功能增强，支持设置系统的背景颜色和强调色，并应用于整个系统。
  • 引入带有 Modern UI 的日历和阅读器等应用（最低运行分辨率：1024x768）。这些 Modern 应用中有一部分取代了 Windows 7 的同类型的桌面版内置应用。
  • 引入了集成 Adobe Flash 的 Internet Explorer 10（具备 Modern UI）。
  • 引入应用商店，并可以直接从应用商店购买和下载 Metro 应用程序。
  • 引入分屏功能（Modern Snap），同一屏幕上可以显示 2 个 Metro 应用程序（最低运行所需分辨率：1024x768）。
  • 屏幕键盘功能全面提升。
  • 锁定屏幕重新设计，支持显示日期时间和一些应用程序的状态。
  • 引入新的消息通知形式，出现于屏幕右侧。
  • OOBE 被完全重新设计。
  • 用 Modern UI 设计的 Windows RE 恢复环境。
  • 当连接到另外一台显示器时，任务栏可以在另一台显示器上显示。

内置应用的变化

  • “邮件”和“日历”在从 Windows 7 里移除后，在 Windows 8 以 Modern Apps 回归。
  • “人脉”App 代替 Windows 联系人。
  • 新增“新闻”、“财经”、“天气”、“旅行”、“运动”等 Apps，由必应和 MSN 提供支持。现在已经死了。
  • 新增“信息”App，在 Windows 8.1 被 Skype 替代。
  • 新增 Xbox 相关的 Apps。
  • 新增“照片”App，旧版 Windows 照片查看器仍共存。
  • 新增“阅读器”App（某些版本标注为 Reader），支持浏览 PDF 文件。
  • 支持 Windows To Go（适用于企业用户），允许用户直接将 Windows 安装在可移动存储设备中。
  • 引入“电脑设置”App，但它默认不在开始屏幕上显示。万恶之源
  • 新版 Windows Defender 具备完整防病毒保护功能。
  • 操作中心控制面板小幅更新。
  • 文件资源管理器引入了新的 Ribbon UI。
  • 改进文件传输，允许用户暂停传输，文件传输详细情况可显示在图表中。
  • 全新设计的任务管理器。
  • Hyper-V 可以在 64 位版本的专业版和企业版上使用，需要处理器支持二级地址转换（即 SLAT，英特尔称其为 VT‐x/EPT，AMD 称其为 AMD‐V/RVI）。

杂项更新

  • 新增一项名为“文件历史记录”的功能，用于自动创建跨系统的文件备份。
  • Windows 桌面窗口管理器更新后，无法被禁用，具备软件渲染和性能改进等功能，移除半透明和模糊。
  • 引入“重置你的电脑而不影响文件”和“重置此电脑”选项，前者保留设置并删除桌面应用，后者相当于重新安装 Windows。
  • 引入快速启动和安全启动技术，大大缩短了设备的启动时间。开机画面在重新设计后，支持显示 UEFI logo。
  • 电池寿命得到改善，并改进了对蜂窝连接的支持。
  • 引入了新的安装程序，大大缩短了安装所需时间。
  • 完全支持 USB 3.0。
  • 任务栏、窗口标题栏的颜色支持自动选择。
  • 新增光盘镜像的挂载功能。
  • Windows 8 包含了新的音效，但默认关闭开机音乐。
    • 同时，Windows 7 中的主题声音方案也被移除，但在%SystemRoot%\Media\下仍然可以见到它们的空文件夹。
    • 根据微软 Windows 8 用户体验项目总监 Jensen Harris 的说法，在 Windows 8 开发阶段，考虑到夜间打开电脑播放登录音乐可能吵醒他家中刚出生的小孩，于是他就关闭了开机和登录音乐。

已删除或降级的功能

  • Windows 侧边栏被删除。微软给出的解释是“Windows 7 和 Windows Vista 中的 Windows 边栏平台有严重的漏洞”。[1][2]
  • 绝大部分的 Windows Aero 视觉效果被删除，只剩下任务栏仍然有些许的透明效果，语音识别栏拥有透明效果以及 Aero Peek、Aero Shake 和 Aero Snap。这成为了许多人固守 Windows 7 不升级的理由。
  • Windows DVD Maker 被移除。
  • Windows 7 包含的小游戏被全部删除，应用商店提供了更多的游戏。
