Windows 10（初始版本）是微软于 2015 年 7 月 29 日发布的 Windows 客户端及工作站操作系统，是上一代 Windows 客户端及工作站操作系统——Windows 8.1 的继任者，同时也是 Windows 10 操作系统系列的首个版本。在当前的微软官方支持网页的文档中称作“Windows 10 版本 1507”[1]。

根据后来泄露的一份微软合作伙伴的文档中显示，此系统被称呼为“Windows Threshold”或“Windows 8.2”[2]。在各大媒体和各大网民中曾一度将此系统称呼为“Windows 9”。

2015 年 1 月 21 日，微软宣布 Windows 7、Windows 8.1 和 Windows Phone 8.1 的用户可以在一年内免费将系统升级到 Windows 10 和 Windows 10 Mobile[3]，并在之后的 WinHEC 2015 中前 Windows 负责人 Terry Myerson 宣布微软将与联想、腾讯和奇虎 360 等公司合作，助力微软大中华区内数亿 Windows 用户免费升级至 Windows 10[4]。

在 Windows 10 正式发布前后，其系统的全面推送已向全球各个国家和地区开启，而零售版于 2015 年 8 月 30 日开售[5]。2015 年 9 月 24 日，百度与微软正式宣布战略合作，成为中国市场上 Windows 10 中 Microsoft Edge 浏览器的默认主页和搜索引擎[6]。在 2016 年 7 月 29 日免费升级期限结束后[7]，微软开始以 119.99 美元起的价格销售 Windows 10[8] 直至 2023 年 2 月 1 日停售[9]。
